Who are these workshops for? ExpandThese workshops are for first-time and returning local candidates, and they’re specifically geared toward school board and city council races.
Do I have to take these workshops to get the party endorsement? ExpandCandidates don’t have to take every workshop, but in order to be considered for SBCDP endorsement, candidates are required to take at least one workshop. For first time candidates, we highly recommend “So You Think You Want to Run for Office” and “Finances, Forms, and Deadlines.”
Do I have to be a registered Democrat, even if it’s a non-partisan race? ExpandYes. We’re building a Democratic bench, and we do that by electing Democrats at all levels.
What do you mean by “building the bench”? Expand“Building the bench” means having a lineup of Democrats ready to step up and run for higher office when important seats open up. It’s like in sports – a great team has strong players ready to play when another comes off the field.
